Freeze Dried Kidney Support Recipe

$52.95

Developed by veterinarian Dr. Kim Freeman, this highly digestible and tasty diet is moderate in protein and low in phosphorus. If your dog has severe kidney issues, please consult your veterinarian as our formula may have too much protein and require an added binder like Rx Vitamins Phos-Bind.

The basic proteins are beef, chicken breast, and egg whites (there’s no ground bone or organ meat, to reduce phosphorus). We’ve increased the percentage of veggies with a mix that emphasizes a good balance of nutrients—particularly B vitamins and arginine, which both directly support kidney function. We use barley as a grain for its effects in traditional Chinese medicine—for example, draining unhealthy “dampness” and supporting the Yin side of the body that is often deficient in kidney disease.

Prepared fresh every week in our Santa Fe, New Mexico kitchen and freeze dried for you in 1lb, 2lb and 5lb bags.

1lb bag makes 3.25lbs or 6.5 cups. 2lb bag makes 6.5 lbs or 13 cups. 5lb bag makes 16.25lbs or 32.5 cups.

In order to cut down on plastic, we ship our freeze-dried food in a closeable paper bag that is compostable and made from recycled materials. Immediately after receiving, we recommend putting the food in an airtight reusable container. Rehydrated food must be used within 3-5 days to maintain freshness. Wash hands, serving utensils, surfaces and bowls thoroughly. Keep all food products, bowls and utensils away from children.

To feed, rehydrate the food, mix in some warm water or broth and let it sit for 10- 15 min before serving. For more information on Freeze Dried food as well as a feeding chart, click here.
