Why Santa Fe Shine Is Different: What Goes Into Every Bowl
When it comes to your pet's food, the details matter. At SHINE Pet Food, we've built every part of our process around one goal: giving your dog the safest, most nutritious food possible. Here's what sets us apart.
Expertly Formulated Recipes
Our recipes are developed by Dr. Richard Patton, a PhD animal nutritionist, and regularly analyzed for nutritional content at a reputable laboratory. We also work closely with our consulting veterinarian, Dr. Kim Freeman, on all maintenance formulas. Together, they've created recipes that meet or exceed AAFCO requirements — and we recognize that NRC standards are often more appropriate for fresh and home-cooked food.
Beyond everyday nutrition, we offer specialized Support Recipes for dogs with kidney disease, digestive conditions, and cancer or metabolic support needs.
Rigorous Safety Standards
Our facility is inspected and certified by the USDA annually, and we perform in-house pathogen testing to ensure every batch is safe. All food is handled in accordance with human grade, organic USDA standards — temperatures are monitored constantly, no ingredients exceed 40 degrees, and our poultry is air-chilled. Poultry is cooked to 165°F and red meat to 145°F.
Quality Ingredients, Thoughtfully Sourced
We use organic certified ingredients — held to more stringent regulations than conventional produce — and source locally whenever possible. We include sprouted (soaked) grains in all but two of our recipes, and offer both cooked and freeze-dried meal options.
Rooted in Community
Shine Pet Food is locally owned, holds B Corp status, and actively supports local causes. We also offer classes and educational resources to help pet owners ensure their pet's food is balanced, safe, and right for their individual needs.
Fifteen years of customer feedback, veterinary expertise, and a genuine passion for pet health has shaped every recipe Shine makes today — because we believe informed pet owners make the best decisions for their animals.
