At Shine Pet Food: Our chicken is free range and certified organic.

The Benefits: Aside from having no added antibiotics or hormones, organic, pasture-raised chicken has been shown to have 21% less overall fat and 50% more vitamin A than its conventionally-farmed cousins. In general, this meat is easily digestible and good for building cardiac and skeletal muscle in dogs and cats, as well as decreasing bone loss in older pups, a common problem, especially in the hip area. It’s an excellent source of essential fatty acids and sulfur-containing amino acids like cysteine and methionine, as well as branched chain amino acids (leucine, isoleucine, and valine). It also is stacked with B vitamins (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12, folate, biotin, and choline) which aid in energy metabolism. Finally, the ground bone (we use the whole bird) provides a safe balance of calcium and phosphorus.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine: Chicken is considered a support for the kidneys and a warming food that’s great for cold weather.
